Le terme *anextlo- que nous trouvons en composition d'Anextlomarus, nom d'une divinité gallo-romaine assimilée à Apollon, attestée au Mans (Sarthe), et à South-Shield (Grande-Bretagne). Ce théonyme a été rapproché du vieil-irlandais anacul qui signifie "protection". Anextlomarus serait donc le dieu "qui protège grandement", ou le "grand protecteur". Il existent aussi des anthroponymes attestés, basés sur cette racine : Anextlolattos, Anextlus, ou encore Anekta.
